Faster and Faster
The Qualifying session
During Qualifying lap times were fast and furious with many drivers
easily doing 19 lap runs. However, with the drop one count two qualifying
system, going fast was only one necessary requirement to get into elusive
group of eight. Not only do you need to post fast qualifying times,
you now need to do it at least two out of the three qualifying rounds.
This format places more emphasis on consistent driving rather than one
fast run.
On the top of the hill after the dust had settled stood
Joel Lagman with his Yokomo MR4. Joel had a perfect qualifying score
of two showing his ability to put in the fast lap times. In second came
last weeks second placer Ted Camacho who qualified with three points.
Ted has shown consistent improvement over the last three races and has
put in the practice time to sharpen his driving. In third came Jun Dimaano
who piloted his TC3 with consistent 19 lap runs. Jun proved that consistency
is important with this qualifying format by running 19 laps in every
round of qualifying. This action sets the stage for an exciting final.
