From the looks of it the boys down at Losi were not
content with the original touring car design that brought them the first
ISTC championship. The new kit it something totally new and features
a single belt tranny and a chassis design that is supposed to be "untweekable"
in a 5 min. race. Losi, or more importantly Gil Losi, the man behind
the Losi kits, wanted a car the would not easily lose tweak during the
race duration and wanted the car to be user-friendly and easy to maintain.
There isn't much of the Street Weapon left in this kit and it is going
to be interesting to see just how well this new design will work. The
prototype version just missed making the A-main during the Last IFMAR
World Championship and it was driven by a Losi factory driver known
for his off-road driving (the current IFMAR 4wd World Champ). During
the race the Losi team lost their two top on-road drivers to the Yokomo
team and despite limited testing and time to finalize the car, they
did surprisingly well. If this is a sign of things to come, I'm sure
that many drivers will be looking to change over to this kit. I'm sure
that this first release will be followed up with a full-care version
in about a year, but as of now, things are looking good for the Losi
race team.
